As an excuse to play Yo La Tengo's version of "Nuclear War", I have put together an episode based around kids singing, or being otherwise invoked in recorded sound. This hopefully ranges from the charming to the dangerously weird. Let me know what you think.
John Zorn - Dreamer of Dreams (from Music for Children, 1998)
Smog - No Dancing (from Knock Knock, 1999)
Rappers Delight Club - When We Were Kids (from their myspace, 2007)
Hefner - The Day That Thatcher Dies (from We Love The City, 2000)
The Books - Motherless Bastard (from Thought for Food, 2002)
Yo La Tengo - Nuclear War (Sun Ra cover, CD single, 2002)
Carpet Ministry - A Brief History About Time (from Evening Classes, 2004, unreleased
Dangerdoom - A.T.H.F (from The Mouse And The Mask, 2005)
Quasimoto & Madlib - Low Class Conspiracy (12", 1999)
Addis Ababa Children - Well Dread version 3 (1972, available on Trojan Upsetter Boxset)
White Rainbow - Chant, Children, Chant, Island Festival Traditional Walking Song (available on Is Orange Birds, Marriage Records compilation)
Suburban Kids with Biblical Names - Rent a Wreck (from somewhere on the internet, 2006)
The Delgados - No Danger (kids choir edit, available on Out of our heads on skelp, Chemikal Underground compilation)
Tom Waits - Children's Story (from Orphans, 2006)
As ever, all podcasts are in the podcast bin
